SISTER SLEDGE We Are Family Extended Version

A breakthrough year for sibling songstresses Sister Sledge, 'He's the greatest dancer' and 'We are family' made a big impression on the world charts; the latter being a huge hit in America, and a moderate one here in Oz. (#19). For me, this track, and the one I post here was a favorite from the time. I spent many an hour spinning my Amii Stewart, Peaches & Herb and Sister Sledge 1979 LP's. This generous 8 and a half minutes of Chic produced magic has endured way way beyond those halcyon disco days. As an anthem; as a song about solidarity, a dance classic, 'We are family' has stood the test of time. The Sisters tried following it up with another Chic-led LP, but none of the three singles issued cracked the Top 40. It was 1985's 'Frankie' that brought the sisters worldwide success again.
