Inside one of Russia's most horrific torture chambers in Ukraine

During the occupation of Kharkiv Oblast in 2022, Russian forces established nearly 30 torture chambers in various parts of the region. This story focuses on just one of them — the torture chamber at the Vovchansk Aggregate Plant. After taking control of the border town of Vovchansk on Feb. 24, 2022, the Russian army set up one of the most horrific torture chambers there, where hundreds of people, mostly civilians, were held. Later, following the liberation of the region by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russians completely destroyed the torture chamber with aerial strikes. In this report, we document exclusive testimonies from survivors and delve into the work of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office, which managed to identify FSB operatives and Russian military personnel involved in the torture.
