But everything changed when they were both rescued and given a second chance at life. Now, Pyi Mai enjoys a life free from chains and work, surrounded by the beauty of nature. She roams freely, exploring her new environment with joy and curiosity. Together with her mother, Kham Moon, she became part of a herd, forming strong and lasting bonds with other elephants. For the past four years, Pyi Mai and Kham Moon have thrived in their sanctuary, embracing the dignity and happiness that come with true freedom. Every 21 January, is the anniversary of Pyi Mai Rescue Day. We are happy to see one life free and living with dignity.
