Simple CO2 Keeling Curve Math Show Earth’s Carbon Sinks Peaking Already in 2008 and Now Declining This is an extremely important paper that has thus far not been recognized for its significant contribution to accelerating climate change. Each boreal summer (summer in the northern hemisphere) the vegetation springs to life and captures huge amounts of CO2, drawing down the global atmospheric levels about 7 ppm. This so-called natural sequestration peaked in 2008, and has been declining since then, contributing significantly to accelerating rises in atmospheric Greenhouse Gas levels and thus accelerating climate change. New Peer-Reviewed Open Source scientific paper: Natural sequestration of carbon dioxide is in decline: climate change will accelerate Conclusions This analysis confirms that the rate of natural sequestration of CO2 from the atmosphere by the terrestrial biosphere is now declining, having reached a peak in 2008. Previous to that date, sequestration had been increasing by as much as 0.8% per year in the 1960sand, if the trend had continued, would have reduced current annual increments in CO2concentration in the atmosphere by over 30%. However, this ameliorating effect has been lost and sequestration is now declining by 0.25% per year. Atmospheric CO 2concentration will now rise more rapidly than previously in proportion to annual global CO 2 emissions. In simple terms, the current rate of increase of atmospheric CO2 of around +2.5ppm per year would have been around +1.9ppm if natural sequestration had not begun to fail.
