The Lochem Pop Festival at the open-air theater in Lochem was organized by Joost Carlier and was a very successful pop festival. Many famous artists were on stage and the festival was mostly packed with people. People were even sitting or hanging in the trees to be able to catch a glimpse of their idol/idols. When it comes to the Motorhead show that took place on 15th of May 1980 there have been a few tracks circulating from a Radio broadcast at the time but now finally a complete recording has shown up and it has here been spread on a glorious double album featuring the tracks from the Radio broadcast as bonus. Motörhead back in 1980 was nothing but musical brilliance, you have Lemmys unmistakable sandpaper vocals, the skilful playing of guitarist Fast Eddie Clarke and the maniac drumming from Phil “Philthy Animal” Taylor. Back then people had a hard time labelling Motorhead, was it metal? was it punk?, was it pre-thrash metal? To Lemmy it was always Rock N Roll even when the band were as loud as all you could hear was some noise that was vibrating post-apocalyptic aural epiphany. Fast, furious, and very loose this sums up what Motorhead were at the Lochem Pop back in 1980.
