Mandi sent me some video clips of the lead up to Cyclone Alfred, and the aftermath. Enjoy seeing the batties in the aviary, then them becoming a little restless as the cyclone approached. And the rain; the torrential rain which just kept coming down. But the cyclonic winds didn't happen in Mandi's area; there was no damage except the aviaries have started turning into ponds. Priscilla, a previously released batty came back for a visit and some freeloading from the support food buffet; Mandi scanned her and tracked down her chip info; she was released 2 years ago after creching with Mandi but released from the Woodford cage about 10 kms away. Priscilla stayed for some food but was gone in the morning. She usually turns up with a bunch of her mates but this time she was alone. She's the most inquisitive of her group, and accepted a grape from Mandi's hand after all this time. Mandi does a head check walk through of all the aviaries and the hospital room, where the new "Ladies" of the chookyard are safely occupying a cage, plus the old dudes, plus Abby (19 years), one of the old dudes who usually lives in the general aviary, but she's old and a bit chubby and yesterday she fell so she's earned her place in the retirement wing, though isn't happy about it. Thanks Mandi for the footage which is given in thanks for the continuing donations which help support the fruit costs for her bats. Tolga Bat Hospital takes donations for Mandi. https://tolgabathospital.org/donate/ Mention Megabattie or Meg in the PayPal message box and the money will find its way to Mandi If no message box appears, please email Jenny to tell her that the money is for Mandi. IMPORTANT: If you pay through the PayPal Giving Fund, can you please email Jenny with the AMOUNT DONATED and the name under which you have donated, OR just forward along the PP receipt. If you specify the amount donated, it makes it heaps easier for Jenny to find the donation. The Giving Fund doesn’t charge any fees (so the bats get more money) but PP doesn’t itemise out the amount, they just send a total every month, and we don’t know if the money is for Tolga or for Megabattie. Here’s Jenny’s email. jenny@tolgabathospital.org
"So, this is where we grow the bats... " A compilation of clips from the past week (& a very detailed text below, on the YouTube page). We haven't had the cyclone (yay!) but the region is still getting a lot of constant rain (boo!). I do like the return batty! 🦇🥰 youtu.be/JYWKIY0uUM4
