In fact a leading theory is that Trump’s interest in Canada & Greenland is primarily for controling the Arctic pathways. In the past, Arctic pathways were considered too dangerous and narrow for shipping. However in recent years due to the melting of the ice caps, shipping through Arctic pathways has become much more feasible.
