Hyundai India's Chief Operating Officer, Tarun Garg tells BTTV's Chetan Bhutani that an improving ecosystem could boost passenger EV penetration to 17% by 2030, up from the current 2.4%. The company plans to introduce three additional EV models following the Creta EV. Hyundai also anticipates increasing its production capacity to 1.1 million units by 2028, up from the current 824,000 units. This growth will be supported by the new Pune plant, which will have a Phase I capacity of 170,000 units and is set to become operational in the fourth quarter of 2025.
