β The #NHS is on its knees. So, what happened to Β£350m a week? πͺπππ₯πβπ¦ π’π¨π₯ ππ₯ππ«ππ§ ππ¨π¦ π π’π‘ππ¬? Boris Johnson's #Brexit message was clear enough: 'πππ§'π¦ πππ©π π’π¨π₯ π‘ππ¦ π§ππ Β£π―π±π¬ π πππππ’π‘ π§ππ ππ¨ π§ππππ¦ ππ©ππ₯π¬ πͺπππ' Thatβs a whopping Β£18.2 billion EXTRA each year that the NHS should have been getting since Britain left the EU five years ago. Yes, the NHS should by now have received a Β£91 billion Brexit windfall. So, where is all that money previously sent to the EU, as claimed by Mr Johnson? Itβs nowhere to be seen. Why? Because Johnsonβs Brexit bus claim was a big, fat lie. Instead of a Brexit bonus, the NHS is in crisis, short of funds, and with patients literally dying on trolleys in corridors. Wasnβt Britain, and particularly our NHS, supposed to be better off because of Brexit? No, the opposite is now true. A report by Cambridge Econometrics estimates that the UKβs economy is almost Β£140 billion smaller because of Brexit. [Source: https://tinyurl.com/3dx693jd] The National Institute of Economic & Social Research (NIESR) found that UKβs GDP is estimated to be 3% lower due to Brexit, corresponding to a per capita income loss of approximately Β£850. Their projections suggest that by 2035, the negative impact of Brexit could escalate to a 5-6% reduction in GDP, equating to about Β£2,300 per person. [Source: https://tinyurl.com/3u4ntjbk] Boris Johnsonβs bus lie - that we sent Β£350m a week to the EU which could instead go to the NHS - clinched the win for Brexit, according to several sources (including the Leave campaign's βguruβ, Dominic Cummings.) [Source: https://tinyurl.com/yedc9rf7] But we never sent as much as Β£350 million a week to the EU. We sent much less. But even thatβs not the full story, because in real terms, EU membership cost us nothing. Thatβs because EU membership was hugely profitable for the UK. The benefits dwarfed the relatively paltry annual membership fee. Watch the video for a summary of the facts. So, hereβs the bottom line. If weβd stayed in the EU, the country and the government would have more money than we do now, not less. Yes, in the EU, more money for the NHS, not less because of Brexit. Britain now needs a new bus, a new driver, and a new destination β far away from Brexit and the misery itβs causing Britain.
