WHERE'S OUR BREXIT BUS MONEY?

→ The #NHS is on its knees. So, what happened to £350m a week? 𝗪𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗘’𝗦 𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗫𝗜𝗧 𝗕𝗨𝗦 𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗘𝗬? Boris Johnson's #Brexit message was clear enough: '𝗟𝗘𝗧'𝗦 𝗚𝗜𝗩𝗘 𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗡𝗛𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗘 £𝟯𝟱𝟬 𝗠𝗜𝗟𝗟𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗘𝗨 𝗧𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗦 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬 𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗞' That’s a whopping £18.2 billion EXTRA each year that the NHS should have been getting since Britain left the EU five years ago. Yes, the NHS should by now have received a £91 billion Brexit windfall. So, where is all that money previously sent to the EU, as claimed by Mr Johnson? It’s nowhere to be seen. Why? Because Johnson’s Brexit bus claim was a big, fat lie. Instead of a Brexit bonus, the NHS is in crisis, short of funds, and with patients literally dying on trolleys in corridors. Wasn’t Britain, and particularly our NHS, supposed to be better off because of Brexit? No, the opposite is now true. A report by Cambridge Econometrics estimates that the UK’s economy is almost £140 billion smaller because of Brexit. [Source: https://tinyurl.com/3dx693jd] The National Institute of Economic & Social Research (NIESR) found that UK’s GDP is estimated to be 3% lower due to Brexit, corresponding to a per capita income loss of approximately £850. Their projections suggest that by 2035, the negative impact of Brexit could escalate to a 5-6% reduction in GDP, equating to about £2,300 per person. But even that’s not the full story, because in real terms, EU membership cost us nothing. That’s because EU membership was hugely profitable for the UK. The benefits dwarfed the relatively paltry annual membership fee. Watch the video for a summary of the facts. So, here’s the bottom line. If we’d stayed in the EU, the country and the government would have more money than we do now, not less. Yes, in the EU, more money for the NHS, not less because of Brexit.
