One resident says that even though Rafah has been reduced to rubble, he vows to always return “and raise our children and grandchildren” in the city in the southern Gaza Strip. Israel launched an invasion of Rafah in May 2024, despite US President Joe Biden having said that Israel invading Rafah would cross a “red line”.
