Trudeau says Canada not source of problems for US, vows "strong response" to Trump tariffs

Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke Thursday ahead of a quickly approaching deadline on tariffs that U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed will be implemented March 4. Trudeau says Canada has invested $1.3 billion into strengthening border security “with Black Hawk helicopters, with drones, with 10,000 people patrolling our borders,” to fight the fentanyl crisis facing the U.S. Trudeau added “Canada is not the source of problems for the United States,” but said the two country’s should be “working together” on the issue. “If there are unjustified tariffs brought in on Canada, we will have an immediate and extremely strong response,” the PM vowed. Nearly $3 million in drugs were seized at the Coutts border crossing in southern Alberta on two different days in December and January from trucks coming into Canada.
