Singer, songwriter, composer, bandleader, and erstwhile social commentator Frank Zappa as guest on the 1980s iteration of CNN's "Crossfire". "Crossfire" was a current affairs programme in which "leftist" or "liberal" guests debated contemporary issues with "conservative" pundits. This episode of the show from 1986 was moderated by two hosts - one ostensibly "left wing" (Tom Braden), the other ostensibly "right wing" (Robert Novak). Here, Zappa slugs it out with Washington Times columnist John Lofton on the subject of censorship in art and music, while predicting the rise of a fascist theocracy in the USA. Prescient.
Frank Zappan ennustus toteutuu nyt. Kohdasta noin 1:20: ”The biggest threat to America today is not communism, it's moving America toward a fascist theocracy, and everything that's happened during the Reagan administration is steering us right down that pipe.”
