As part of his early blitz of executive orders, President Donald Trump withdrew the United States from the World Health Organization. The move means the U.S. will lose access to WHO's global public health data. Lawrence Gostin, a law professor and director of the O'Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law at Georgetown University, says without the data, America may fall behind on developing vaccines. "The World Health Organization leads a vast network of public health agencies, laboratories and international scientists that constantly track novel outbreaks and shares data," he told PBS News Hour's Amna Nawaz. "Without that, CDC doesn't have an early warning. We can't respond. And so we're weaker. We're less prepared." Watch PBS News for daily, breaking and live news, plus special coverage.
