A Very Special re Mastered Digital performance by the Legendary HEAVEN 17 HEAVEN 17âs nucleus of Glenn Gregory & Martyn Ware were joined as usual by the lovely Billie Godfrey and the vivacious Meâsha Bryan on backing vocals plus Asa Bennett doubling on guitar / programming & Joel Farland on electronic drums. with LA ROUX feature their LIVE line-up of: Elly, Mikey, Mickey and Will sans silent writing / production partner Mr Ben Langmaid. ( We Donât Need This ) Fascist Groove Thangâ opened proceedings & still resonates as it powerfully fills the mighty BBC Maida Vale Studios recorded back in 2010 Ironically, this song was banned by the BBC when it was released as a single in 1981 due to its âRonald Reagan â Fascist Godâ baiting lyrical content. But now HEAVEN 17, finally getting to play it for Auntie with Glenn Gregory standing by his original observation! Gregory and Wareâs favourite HEAVEN 17 song âLet Me Goâ closed the first part of the show with the squelchy Roland TB303 Bassline that pre-dated acid house by 5 years taking prominence. The cover version they attempt is again an obvious choice as the two acts explained their reasoning. Glenn Gregory suggested TERENCE TRENT DâARBYâs âSign Your Nameâ as the original was produced by Martyn Ware of Heaven 17, so there was already a HEAVEN 17 connection. âThree decades ago HEAVEN 17 were instrumental in the popularisation of electronic music in the UK, and over the last year LA ROUX have come to prominence as one of todayâs leading electro torchbearers. In bringing these artists together, BBC6 Music illustrates the lineage and influence of the genre from the 1970s through to the present dayâ. Heaven 17 TOUR DATES see web site; _________________________________________ Heaven 17 Web Site: https://www.heaven17.com/ LAâROUX https://www.laroux.co.uk/ _________________________________________ LAâROUX is an English synthpop act formed in 2008 by singer Elly Jackson and record producer Ben Langmaid. The act's debut album La Roux (2009) was a critical and commercial success, winning a Grammy Award and producing hit singles such as "In for the Kill" and "Bulletproof". Recording of a follow-up album was marred by unsuccessful collaborations, the cancellation of 2 planned release dates, and reported conflict between the duo. Langmaid ultimately left the group in 2012, and Jackson released a second album, Trouble in Paradise in 2014, maintaining the former duo's name as her stage persona. The album was a critical, but not a commercial success, and La Roux subsequently parted ways with Polydor Records. Elly Jackson released her third album, Supervision, independently in 2020. __________________________________________ Heaven 17 Merch Store https://heaven17merchstore.bigcartel.com/products __________________________________________ All music owned by: Heaven 17 & LA ROUX All right reserved 2010 by Heaven 17 & LA ROUX .
