American Bandstand 1969 – Take A Letter Maria, R.B. Greaves

Airdate: November 8, 1969 Robert Bertram Aloysius Greaves’ catchy song is at #18 today and will peak at #2 in 2 weeks (kept out of the #1 spot by “Wedding Bell Blues”). He will appear on American Bandstand on Jan. 31, 1970 singing “Take A Letter Maria” and his new song “(There’s) Always Something There To Remind Me” which will peak at #27 in ’70. Our ’69 Regulars dancing today are: Frank Vanderpuil (0:12), Carl Ratcher (0:48), Nancy Demelo & Bill Cox (1:24) and Cathy Kilborn & Marty Mane (2:00). …..And in 6 days (Nov. 14) Pete Conrad, Richard Gordon and Alan Bean will begin the 2nd manned mission to the moon on Apollo 12. On Nov. 19, Pete Conrad and Alan Bean will be the 3rd and 4th men to walk on the moon behind Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin who did it only 4 months earlier on July 20.
