Trudeau government "spiralling out of control" amid Liberal resignations, Poilievre says

Canadian opposition leader Pierre Poilievre has called for a vote on the annual Fall Economic Statement, which is expected to be delivered Monday by the Liberal government – weeks after it was initially anticipated. Who exactly will deliver Monday’s fiscal update is unclear after Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland announced her resignation from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s cabinet earlier in the day in a post to X. Freeland made the decision after Trudeau allegedly “informed” her he no longer wanted her to serve as finance minister and offered her another Cabinet position on Friday. She added that she has found herself increasingly at odds with Trudeau. Responding to Freeland’s resignation – as well as Housing Minister Sean Fraser’s decision to leave the federal Cabinet – Poilievre suggested the Liberal party table their fiscal update and “let the House of Commons vote up or down” in a “non-confidence vote” in order to bring forth a potential “carbon tax election.” Currently, the Conservative leader is seen as Canada’s best option in dealing with an incoming Donald Trump administration, according to an Ipsos poll conducted exclusively for Global News.
