One of the most brutal concentration camp commandants of World War 2 was Karl Otto Koch who oversaw Buchenwald Concentration Camp. He ordered scores of executions here, but was later himself executed inside of his former camp. He was condemned by the SS for embezzlement and in the final days of the Second World War he was taken to his death in front of a firing squad.
