During a press conference this past week, Trump press secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked about Donald Trump's post on Truth Social where he said that Canada could avoid the tariffs if they just became the 51st state of our country, and Leavitt appeared to confirm that this is Trump's stated goal. This actually goes against all of the other reasons why Trump has claimed to be putting tariffs in place because this administration can't seem to keep their story straight on any issue.
