Over the last decade, out of state one percenters have have flocked to Miami, and redeveloping the city into the one with the third tallest skyline in the country. The very people who build these skyscrapers are being left behind, as Miami has become increasingly both unequal and unaffordable. Unsafe working conditions and poverty wages are pushing construction workers out of the state. But workers are fighting back. Unions and community organizations are coming together to demand collective bargaining agreements, cooling centers, independent monitoring, and more. We went down to to the 305 to figure out who will define the future of Miami's skyline. ----- More Perfect Union’s mission is to build power for working people. Here’s what that means: We report on the real struggles and challenges of the working class from a working-class perspective, and we attempt to connect those problems to potential solutions. We report on the abuses and wrongdoing of corporate power, and we seek to hold accountable the ultra-rich who have too much power over America’s political and economic systems.
