We Slowed Down A Bacterium to One Billionth Of A Second | WORLD PREMIERE

FULL DOCUMENTARY: https://youtu.be/YxU0ZTt_3YY This is the making of Micronauts, a documentary by director Hans Busstra, which shows the first moving images of the inside of a single bacterium at the molecular level. In this video, we unpack how molecular cell biologist Gael McGill and his team at Digizyme Inc made these complex animations. This was Hans Busstra's last documentary film project before joining the Essentia Foundation and you can read about his metaphysical reflections on this project on the Essentia Foundations website: https://www.essentiafoundation.org/what-bacteria-taught-me-about-metaphysics/seeing/ The full documentary Micronauts will premiere on our channel the 20th of December: https://youtu.be/YxU0ZTt_3YY Director and editor: Hans Busstra Animations by Digizyme Inc.: Gaël McGill Jeannie Park Jonathan Khao Brittany Cheung Eric Keller Brinton Jaecks Digizyme B-roll footage: Jeannie Park https://www.digizyme.com/ Micro photography: Wim van Egmond https://www.wimvanegmond.com/ SEM Microscopy: Jan Dijksterhuis https://wi.knaw.nl/ Made possible by Winclove Probiotics https://www.winclove.nl/en/ Molecular visuals & simulations created with Molecular Maya (mMaya). The production of this documentary has been greatly enriched by the resources provided by the Protein Data Bank (PDB), the Orientations of Proteins in Membranes (OPM) database, the Machine Intelligence from Cortical Networks (MICrONS) Explorer project, and the insights from the research paper "Integrative Illustration of Escherichia coli" by David Goodsell.
