♪ How I Got Over | Mahalia Jackson at MLK's Civil Rights Campaign (Washington, 1963)

The very same day that Martin Luther King Jr. pronounced his speech "I Have a Dream", Mahalia inspired thousands of demonstrators with this song called "How I Got Over". This VIDEO, with on-screen LYRICS, shows her perform there, at the March For Jobs and Freedom in Washington, 1963. Remember this was a key day for MLK's Civil Rights Movement on behalf of African American people and, it would be fair to say that both Mahalia and King, led by God's love, made history together. Witnesses and biographers documented that, as King was getting to the end of his speech, Mahalia shouted to him saying: "Tell them about the dream, Martin!". It was then that the Reverend stopped looking at his paper and out of his heart described his dream of freedom and equality in America and the world, which he had previously preached in other sermons who would be compiled in the book "Strength To Love". MLK and Mahalia already met each other and had a story to tell together. See that here: https://youtu.be/odHqG1rA4M8
