How to fly a flag at half staff on a house using a mourning ribbon

When you don't have a vertical flag pole, here's a way to modify a flag outside your home using a mourning ribbon to honor the half-staff custom. My favorite mourning ribbon that's MADE IN THE USA: https://amzn.to/3ds8ZFS **VIDEO CORRECTION: In the video, I mention the tradition of flying the flag at half-staff on Memorial Day until noon, then raising the flag for the rest of the day in honor of "living" veterans. It is correct to raise the flag, but it is to honor our nation's deceased heroes, not the living. The flag is flown at half-staff from sunrise to noon to *mourn* the dead and then raised briskly to full-staff from noon to sunset to *honor* the dead.** Flying the American flag at half staff is a symbol of mourning and respect. It is flown at half-staff on days like Patriot Day (September 11th) and Memorial Day (last Monday in May), Peace Officer's Memorial Day (May 15th), and Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day (December 7th), and any other time by order of the president or governor. Patriot Day is an annual observance memorializing the 2,977 victims of the 9/11 tragedy. The US flag flying at half-staff is a symbol of mourning and respect for the deceased, their families, and our country as a whole.
