After 15 months of unimaginable suffering, thousands of Palestinians are returning home, with the ceasefire in Gaza into its second day. Nine out of 10 Palestinians in Gaza have been displaced by Israel's war, many having to move repeatedly. But for most, the place they called home no longer exists. The destruction of Gaza has left 42 million tonnes of rubble. And most Palestinians are returning to a shell of their former lives. Al Jazeera’s Tareq Abu Azzoum is in Rafah in southern Gaza, just a kilometre from where Israeli forces have withdrawn after the ceasefire. He has more on the widespread destruction across the strip.
