1949 HITS ARCHIVE: Saturday Night Fish Fry - Louis Jordan & his Tympany Five (#1 R&B hit)

Saturday Night Fish Fry (Jordan-Walsh) by Louis Jordan and his Tympany Five Twelve(!) weeks at #1 on the R&B charts for this famous Jordan crossover hit...among his most lastingly popular singles, issued as a Part 1/Part 2 two-sider. You may note that the timing notation on the labels totaling 6:00 doesn’t match the shorter duration of this posted track, which is actually the original complete 5:20 master version. Side 1 of the 78 release ran about 3:00 (not 3:12); and the first 20+ seconds of side 2 included a replay of the final passages from side 1, which is not included here or on any of the LP and CD reissues over the decades. THE 1949 HITS ARCHIVE - here in one place, a good-quality library of original-release-version best-sellers and songs that made an impact that were either released or enjoyed a major chunk of their popularity within the calendar year 1949 (some were recorded in 1948). . ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The three* MusicProf channels are home to The HITS ARCHIVES, YouTube’s most comprehensive collection of U.S. ‘popular music’ recordings from 1925 thru 1975.
