"The Space Traders" is a science fiction short story by Derrick Bell published in 1992. This is an adaption for television made in 1994 by director Reginald Hudlin and writer Trey Ellis as part of the HBO anthology TV movie Cosmic Slop, which presented three Twilight Zone style stories from a black perspective. The US Government has only days to respond to the offer. Derrick Albert Bell Jr. (November 6, 1930 ā October 5, 2011) was an American lawyer, professor, and civil rights activist. In 1971, he became the first tenured African-American professor of law at Harvard Law School, and he is often credited as one of the originators of critical race theory along with Richard Delgado, Charles Lawrence, Mari Matsuda, and Patricia Williams. He was a visiting professor at New York University School of Law from 1991 until his death. He wrote science/speculative fiction as well as legal and pedagogical theory.
