'The Little Sparrow' Madame Edith Piaf with her most famous song and her signature tune. Edith wrote 'La Vie En Rose' in 1945 singing it for 2 years before recording it, it wasn't a big hit if France but sold 1 million copies in the US. She sang it in her 1948 film Neuf garçons, un cœur and it was included in her 1950 album 'Chansons Parisiennes'. English lyrics were written in 1950 and the song was recorded by Bing, Louis, Tony Martin, Paul Weston and many more artists over the years, Grace Jones recorded it in 1977 for her first album. This Canadian pressing is in superb condition and a very treasured record in my collection.
#LETSDOIT25 • 21 • 11 points Most of my not-top-five could have been in the points positions, to be honest, but there’s something about Piaf’s voice, and this song (I know, these are groundbreaking observations) that is transcendent. La Vie en Rose • Édith Piaf • 1947
